Fire Station Conversion - Do not judge a book by its cover

1890 Fire Station Conversion, Austin TX
Browsing through Old House Dream I cam across this listing. You can see that I could have easily skipped it, but the price tag of $4,400,000 made me curious. I'll let the images speak for themselves.

Can you see yourself in that mirror?

What an interesting place! It's not to my taste, but I'd love to visit.

I've long had a fantasy of having an opulent treasure house hidden within a conventional facade. One version of the fantasy is that even the first floor looks 1950's suburban-conventional.

Hello Mark,
Yes, it's the element of surprise that is seducing. It's a dark environment, but I guess living under the Texan sun, one finds relief in a somber rich palette. Non the less impressive, not unlike falling down the rabbit hole.
Always a pleasure,
Anyes
