Doors Open Ontario Art Contest - Antique Cruet Set, Autumn Raspberries and Ladybugs

St Marys Museum's Antique Cruet Set, Autumn Raspberries and Ladybugs
8" x 10" Acrylic on Canvas
Last October, I submitted two paintings for the Doors Open Art Contest. I was thrilled to learn that the above submission, inspired by a cruet set at the St Marys Museum, was the winner in the adult category. The below, inspired by a room in my home, received an honourable mention. But there's also a second part to this contest. Please consider voting for my paintings in the Doors Open Ontario Peoples Choice Award!

Thank You!

UPDATE
Unfortunately I did not earn enough votes to win the People's Choice Award, (my congratulations to Brianne Casey of Hamilton), but I was very pleased to be the Judges choice and was given gift certificates redeemable for 6 tickets to a performance of my choice at the historic Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in Toronto. Thank you to Dawson Bridger of the Ontario Heritage Trust for this lovely gesture.

Crystal Garden Windows

It's no secret that I'm not a fan of winter, a hate the cold. Today it's -38 degree with the windchill factor and the Jeep won't start. I've experienced pretty much every type of weather Canada can throw at its people, but I did not expect a Quebec winter day in Southern Ontario. It's brutally cold when the film of moisture on your eyeballs freezes making it hard to blink. This is invariably accompanied by the 'nose thing', which is when you breath in through your nose and the moisture in your nostrils freezes sealing them shut. But I have to admit that as much as I hate the cold, Old Man Winter can draw up some pretty awesome artwork on my windows. No other season can produce this type of magic.

Stay warm, stay safe, drink some hot cocoa.
